OncologyThe Official Journal Of The Association For Palliative Medicine To Be 'Palliative Medicine'
SAGE have announced that flagship medical journal Palliative Medicine is to become the official journal of the Association for Palliative Medicine.
Formed in 1986, The Association for Palliative Medicine of Great Britain and Ireland (APM) is an association of doctors who work in hospices and specialist palliative care units in hospitals. Palliative Medicine is the longest standing multidisciplinary scholarly journal dedicated to improving knowledge and clinical practice in the palliative care of patients with far advanced disease.
Already the official research journal of the European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC), the new agreement extends the readership of the journal to some 1000 members of the APM, including doctors based in UK, Ireland, and overseas.
"This seems an entirely natural and obvious "marriage" and we are delighted at this coming together of the first peer-reviewed journal of palliative medicine with the first professional association to be established in this field," said Geoffrey Hanks Editor-in-Chief, Palliative Medicine.
"There are now at least a dozen peer-reviewed journals in the field, but Palliative Medicine remains at the forefront. The link with the APM will bring new opportunities and responsibilities and create a synergy with enormous potential."
"Palliative Medicine reflects the multidisciplinary approach that is the hallmark of effective palliative care, and we"re delighted to be building a closer relationship with the APM to widen access to this highly-regarded journal." added Tessa Picknett, Publisher, STM Journals, SAGE.
